Your comment is too enigmatic for me to interpret, however, I'll join in by
wondering what should the jury recommend for the sentence - life or death?

In general, I am opposed to the death penalty, but a large pragmatic streak
makes me wonder how society should deal with people like this.

We have a case here in Sydney at the moment where a pedophile is due for
release from prison. It is obvious to all onlookers that he will re-offend
at the earliest opportunity. Under a new law, his detention has been
extended for 28 days while a court can consider whether he should be
detained for a longer period to safeguard the community.
