The arguments of scientists like Paul Davies are more sophisticated and
much more detailed than the observations that we have made here. There is a
certain set of magic numbers in physics (the constants in the fundamental
equations). The argument is that these numbers have values that are
essential for a universe, complex elements, molecules, cells, life - if the
numbers were even slightly different, nothing we see would exist.
