You might consider some of those "instant" warm up amplifier tubes, like
the ones in the Heath amps. What are they? 500Z's? Provided, of course
they are good for 50 mhz. I am sure there is something out there that
is good for 6 meters, and probably less expensive than solid state.
... I don't have a solution, but I really admire the problem.
