The Aphex Aural Exciter processes esp. vocals on some recordings, I
think. I'd read references to it for a while, some deprecating, but
never knew much about it. Other rec.audio messages have compared its
effect to tube amplifiers' second harmonic distortion spectra.
A transistor may generate higher order odd harmonics the ear abhors.
A valve or vacuum tube makes more harmonics that are even multiples.
I haven't experimented much with this!
Sounds like an education, tho.
Thanks again to -Zeitgeist- for the excerpt, tho I gave the wrong area
code in the last message, it's 972.

The essence of the ACOH even order distortion generator is a precision
half wave rectifier. We just fed variable amounts of precision half
wave rectivied signal back into the main feed.

You might want to call David Clark at 1 810 305 5534 - he is the one
who introduced me to the device, and he runs an audio engineering shop
that custom builds items.
