The information may *-presently-* be public information, but there are those
who feel that adoptees and birth-family members have absolutely no right to
be able to search for each other and they will do whatever they can to stop
those who would search!! And since there is no way to determine who might be
reading the messages in this area but never posting (i.e., lurking) and what
their private agenda(s) might be, it is best to not "sell the store" away.
This is a very sad but real part of the search arena.
I'm sure that you ran into people who would try to block your efforts to
locate some fugitive. Sometimes just because they didn't like the idea of
someone trying to capture them... Also, what may be legal to do today may be
illegal at some time in the future - sometimes as a result of event(s) that
take place today.
