carriage because it's so heavy and smooth. With the right dry lubricant between

the pieces, and a reasonable lack of dust particles, it will be the
smoothest version of a tester I can make. Compared to my wood-and-metal
contraption now,

it will be far superior.

Hi Kevin
Actually a piece of window glass works better and
is easier to get to the right size. I've used small teflon pins ( used to
be electronic standoffs ). Even dellron ( sp? ) works well on glass.

If the stuff weren't already the right size, I'd not be using it. I will
be using a marble on marble slide with a dry lubricant between. I will
also polish the two surfaces with my zirc-ox to smooth their differences.

Glass is better for some things, and this will only be experimental at
first. If it works, I guess we're back to the stone age.
