Hello Bob!

16 May 08 23:04, you wrote to Mimi Gallandt:

BK> Web is not the internet.

That is true.

The Internet uses many protocols, the web is merely one of them.

BK> It is all just a means of conveying binary data from one place
BK> to another. As is fidonet.

Majority of Fidonet Traffic is transported via the internet using such
protocols as binkp, ftp, telnet, ifcico, email attach etc.. Fidonet started
off using phone modem, which some systems still offer.

Multimedia cannot be streamed via Fidonet, but can be via the internet.

Before you go trying to impress Mimi, ala Wayne Chirnside style, you should
present real facts instead of arguing for the sake of arguing.

Attaching a winch to your car does not make it a pick-up truck.

Encoding a file within the content of a Fidonet message does not make
Fidonet a multi-media network.. Your run of the mill MP3 file is roughly
one meg per minute of song, now go ahead and find one minute tunes and
start encoding them and then wait to see how many tossers choke on them.

Tom Jennings is the one whom created Fidonet, he lives in San Francisco,
track him down and ask him.

Most of the specifications surrounding Fidonet can be researched here:
