Canadian Space Agency creates
business opportunities for Canadian space industries

Saint-Hubert, April 16, 2003 - The Canadian Space Agency allocates
80% of its budget to seek out opportunities for Canadian space
industries. The Canadian Space Agency is proud to contribute to the
growth of a strong, dynamic Canadian economy and aspires to help
Canadians take advantage of space. The space sector is strategic to
the development of our knowledge-based economy as it stimulates R&D,
fosters the development of advanced technologies, and creates
fulfilling high-quality work for Canadians.

EARTH OBSERVATION APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (EOADP)

The Earth Observation Application Development Program was designed as
a single-window channel to support industry initiatives focused on
the development of Earth Observation (EO) applications. EOADP
supports the development of innovative applications using data
generated by Canadian supported missions.

The Request for Proposal (RFP) for this Program closes on April 17,
2003.  The next Program RFP should be posted in the fall. For more

TECHNOLOGY DIFFUSION PROGRAM (TDP)
The Technology Diffusion Program promotes the use of space
technologies for non-space products and services. TDP will assist
Canadian industries in developing a credible business plan to
develop, market and produce products and service.

A Program RFP is currently posted until April 23, 2003. For more

SPACE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (STDP)
The Space Technology Development Program (STDP) looks for promising
technologies that have a significant potential for having an impact
on the Canadian Space Program as well as new innovative technologies
and concepts for future space missions. The Program is developed
under five program elements: New Mission Concepts; Innovative
Technologies and Concepts; Technologies for Future Canadian Space
Missions; Technologies for the Enhancement of Industrial
Competitiveness; and, Space Technology Flight Demonstration.

STDP's current RFP posting period has been extended until May 5,

Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Announcements of Opportunity (AO) in
areas such as microgravity sciences, space life sciences, space
environment, space astronomy, space exploration and atmospheric
environment are currently being prepared.

The Canadian Space Agency regularly offers opportunities to Canadian
companies to take part in unique space related projects. The Agency
is responsible for coordinating all federal civil space-related
programs and ensures the needs and aspirations of Canadians are met
and that key manufacturing capabilities in Canadian technological
niches remain in Canada.
