Where a storm makes landfall is certainly based on other factors.  I
thought that's what you were talking about, storms making landfall on the
west coast.

Who says that one has more violent storms than the other?

You're trying to compare the Atlantic coastal areas (including the
Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico) to the Pacific coast of North/Central Amerca,
but that's not an analogous situation.
