I see that here, too, and it sucks. I have friend (not a close one, just
someone I know by other friends) who is an American, and it's really stupid
that she gets harrassed over and over and over again about what happens in
the states. I mean, it's alright to talk about things, but it is getting a
bit too far already. Against the Joe Average, that is.

Oh, and I noticed this myself, too, in London last fall. A few times I was
asked "are you American?", with the tone suggesting some sort of
verbal bashing being on the way. Mind you, being Finnish is funny in that I
have never had a negative response to my nationality, in any country. Well
except for Sweden but that doesn't count .
