The EU hasd not been pushing the "freedom & democracy agenda".
We're more machievelli. However I do think we're making a historical
mistake because most Arabs I know saw this as a test to see if the EU
actually meant it wrt being friends with the Arabs/Muslims & it turns
out really we're not.
I think longer term it will be good for the Arabs to actually start putting
their money where their mouth is & it may start the development of what
everyone knows should happen which is in effect an Arab EU. I would call it
the AU but the Africans already have dibs on that.
So all well & good. The West will line up behind their creation &
the Arabs/Muslims will line up behind their boys. It will be interesting to
see which way the Turks go.
