It occurs to me that the Soviets may just be doing to the US in Afghanistan
what the US did to them in Afghanistan back in the 1980s/early 1990s.
Sort of returning the favor.  Putin is certainly capable of providing all sorts
of covert support to the Taliban, bin Laden's outfit, etc.
