I've re-read what you said:
   However we are part of the universe so obviously
   the universe has intelligence.

and I see that I completely misunderstood (I thought you were suggesting
some romantic notion of an intelligence in/outside the universe, apart from
the intelligence in sentient life forms such as ourselves).
