Replying to a message of Ross Sauer to JOHNJWILSON:

RS> PBS had a series I enjoyed, about the evolution of English, from it's
 RS> origins to today.

 RS> Just an example, "insult."

RS> Today, there's all sorts of slang for it.

 RS> "Trash talk"
 RS> "Flame"
RS> "Doing the dozens" (Originated decades ago) "Slam"

A couple of decades ago Paul Dickson noted in one of his books that there
were - if memory serves - 2,032 different words that could be used to say
'drunk,' and listed them alphabetically.
