It presented one with a command interpreter more powerful than that which
the stock command interpreter provided, especially in the area of variables
and such that one would use in batch files.

Basically made batch files more powerful or versatile.

Additionally can run batch files with the BTM extension... Which stands for
batch to memory, the BTM would then be read into memory and executed from
there, making them speedier, but only practical for large or complex batch
files to realize any advantage.
