On the south shores of Lake Erie there are houses falling over the cliff
down into the lake as the lake has eroded the land. We do nothing about it
but the people there must move away. The reason it's allowed to happen
instead of us building some great sea wall there is because it's not worth
the costs for so few homes.

If we do nothing about global warming, it may be because of the same
reasons. It's expensive to stop the things we think we are doing that might
make a difference, in some places global warming is seen as a good thing,
and after looking at that map it's obvious to me that rising oceans are
really not going to affect much land mass at all. True it's going to hit
some heavily populated areas but they might do something like Orleans did.
