Yes...

Perhaps!!!

In my time as Moderator in the fairly early stage I had
to warn two people for breaking the rules in this Echo.

One from New Plymouth who I inherited from Denis and
one from Auckland who tried under another Alias as well.

Neither now post here as both disregarded warnings and
carried on disrupting the Echo. The one from New Plymouth
was banned for three months only but has presumably decided
not to come back.

The one from Auckland has not come back a third time.

Later I have had to warn three other people who chose to
go by the rules and they all still have access to this Echo.

I haven't had to issue a warning for yonks!!! :-)

RULES (IMHO) are needed in Forums, Newsgroups and life in
general. People need to abide by rules every day or risk
going to Court and popping in to prison with the rest of
the crims.

Would you like to turn this Echo into the likes of LTUAE
as I saw it several years ago in Australia? We can always
vote with our fingers and get out of an Echo in which we
are no longer happy with but the User of the Echo has no
power to remove a disruptive poster whereas a Moderator in
FidoNet has some power to do just that.

Should we also remove the Police Force and allow people to
do as they feel like?

Anyway.... My rant over. My reasons why I believe this Echo
SHOULD be MODERATED.

Your post though does remind me that the rules should
be posted again. I am now going to post a new set of rules.

Kind regards,
Tony Frew.
Moderator NZ_Fidonet.
