ok... that's good... if you get good connects then don't change anything..
as far as getting anything other than the /ARQ on a reliable connect sorry... 
that's the ONLY result code that you will get besides the current 
connection... USR is one of the few modems that I know of that gives you a 
LOT of extra "BS" after the speed...
With that init string you should see...  CONNECT 28800/ARQ
unless you connect at a lower speed at which you would see the slower connect 
rate rather than the 28800
