Heck the diff is that's what religious types have done repeatedly to
scientific types with no such events in reverse.

At what point did the scientists burn some catholics or indeed imprison
& torture the Pope to get him to recant his heresies?

It's been religions wot've started it not scientists because blind belief
in the rightness of your cause is usually the key inflammatory factor.
