Apparently they are already flying UAV's along the border.

Some yank decided to follow his heart and sneak across the border.  In the
middle of winter.  In the prairies.  IIRC he survived but lost one or both
his feet.

As for the statue, I'm sure that if France gives us one, we'll gladly do it.
