Police raid offices of 2 B.C. ministers

Last Updated Sun, 28 Dec 2003 21:25:49

VANCOUVER - Police raided the legislature offices of two British Columbia
cabinet ministers Sunday, but they weren't investigating the ministers.

RCMP Cpl. Ian Lawson said they were investigating staff who work in the
personal offices of Finance Minister Gary Collins and Transportation
Minister Judith Reid. The staff, who are political appointees and not civil
servants, were not named.

Two hours after executing search warrants, teams of RCMP and Victoria
police took away files and correspondence. There were also raids in other
locations in Victoria and the province.

Victoria police Chief Paul Battershill said the teams included officers
from the RCMP's commercial crime, drug and organized crime units. Police
said the raids were part of a major probe dating back 20 months.
