Even you have to accept that the Zenith has now passed.

I wonder if the WoT inc Iraq will play the role wrt the US that the Great
War did wrt the British Empire i.e. draining the treasury & bleeding
the will.

& I wonder if China will take on the role the US filled or if they wll
return to their std insular state.

Having said that, that's what the US did between 1918 & 1941 so.....
