A) Humm... the X-Band is. The main sweeper ain't.

B) At one point that was true. However notice the angle of the pyramid
& calculate how far down it has to look to get the horizon & thus
how far up it can look.

Also

(1) What horizon? The Horizon over central Asia is way behind the curve of
the earth so it's a relative term.

(2) Fylingdales may have more than one use. Tracking satellites esp mil
sats as well as shuttles (& the debris they have to avoid) etc.etc. is
"of interest".

(C) True. Big red line painted round the place. No flesh higher than that
unless the radar is shut down. They have special things much like pan
scrapers (except with no metal & heat resistant) & the pyramid is
effectively coated with "non-stick" as they have to scrape the
carbonized remains of birds off on a regular basis.
