I am one of those rare people who has had a lifetime of work on hydro and
steam generators.
A hydroelectric generator is usually a low speed alternator with a
vertical shaft.
Other generators are usually high speed alternators with horizontal shaft.
Like an automobile generator but driven by an in-line turbine, instead of a
vee belt.
There is nothing special about a hydroelectric generator [on a smaller scale]
that would recommend the design, as a HOMEPOWER feature.
As you will have seen, the modern PV panel is the option to be seriously
explored for the useful production of electricity at home. With windmills,
popular too but needing Courage Capital and Cool!! And lotsa wind
exposure.....Cheers...ALEC
