There ya go again, that longterm thinking problem ya got
there BOb. Governments and big business don't do well
anymore with long term thinking. Instead we spray the coca
and the marijuana crop with pesticides, arm the despotic
governments, go through all the motions, except the one that really would work.
The slogan back when I was coming up, grew my hair long and
wore weird clothing ...
"power to the people right on."
But power to the people means people ask hard questions, and demand
answers. POwer to the people means self
determination. We can't have that, after all they might
just decide they *like growing coca. Maybe not, but we
can't take that chance now. After all these are just a
bunch of ignorant peasants. What would they know about the
grander scheme of things that are decided in some board room in Washington
D.C. or NEw York City? Screw 'em, they don't
matter, turn 'em into refugees, they ain't lost that much!!!
YEs I'm a libertarian, but I believe that if my government's going to spend
the money, both here and abroad it should
spend those bucks on things that empower people, education,
opportunity, healthy environment. OTherwise, don't reach
out for my tax dollar for more corporate welfare and a big
assed bailout for fat cats who already ripped me off once.
We've done the same only on a grander scale to the folks in
the coca producing countries and other third world nations.
Then we hear talking heads on the nightly news decrying the
lack of stability in these countries. .
Regards,
Richard
