Replying to a message of JOHNJWILSON to BOB KLAHN: J> Practicing J> Catholic, heretic on the side. Practicing heretic, with a little J> Aquinas on the side... Hey! Benedictus sound better and better...John J> Paul gave humility, love, tolerance...Pope Benedict is emphasizing J> rationality, reason, logic, science. Wonder if they (y'all) are going J> to solve the sex thing...why don't they adopt the Greek Orthodox J> married-priests idea? I read recently that the ban on married priests only dates from what we call the Dark Ages. Seems at the time the church was one of the biggest property holders in western civilization, and if a married priest died chances were that his church, its fixtures and any other assets would go to his heirs rather than stay in the church. So the church eliminated the possibility of heirs breaking up its property holdings. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 236/150 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
