Call me a pessimist, but I see 2010 as being far worse than 2009.

Why? Two words: Election year.

That means the air waves will be filled with bitter partisan attacks, most
of them simply false.
And that's on both sides, even though republicans still are far better at
the "smear and fear" method of campaigning.

Karl Rove was not a democrat.

Fringe groups led by rabble-rousers like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin will
dominate the news coverage of the elections. Why?
Simple.
They make lots of noise, cause lots of controversy, they get lots of media
attention.
