my modem was giving all the problems discussed
I'm in the bush, I think my phone line is the top two strands of
fencing wire. Some days it's just not worth the errors,
but most days perfect.
I'm now incorporating ati6 in all my hangup strings, to regularly
monitor the poor performance.
so I contacted Askey Aust. who suggested sending the modem back
for replacement. The person I spoke to was unwilling to speak
about upgrades.
My replacement modem has a small daughter bd glued above the speaker.
with a switch on it atz0 dip #7 up:Yn #7: down &f0 ???

after some doubt concerning the accuracy of the users manual
I made my own, turn capture on,
ati3 product id
ati7 product configuration
at$ help, command summary
at&$ help, ampersand commands
ats$ help, S registers
atd$ help, dial commands
atz load Y configuration
ati4 current settings
capture off,
now print it out,

at&k0 no compression didn't help,
ato1 retraining didn't
ats32=16 disable v34+ didn't
at&n10 sometimes helps?

is this a real modem???
