Not necessarily.  I've read that there are web sites that archive this stuff
forever.  I know that I have some stuff archived at MIT; a friend had gated
the Telecom Digest newsgroup, a moderated newsgroup which is archived at
MIT, to a local echo and I'd posted material in the echo.

Nor in mine.  I'm not nearly far enough behind you in that regard .  IMO
any repair will take decades and quite possibly a century or longer.
