EV>> I buy Gas at a Shell Gas Station when I have enought Kroger Gas Points
EV>> to get the Ten Cent Discount. The Price on the Electric Sign at a
EV>> Circle K Gas Stations changed SIx Cents from Credit to another word
EV>> (I think called EZ-Pay) that was Six Cents less. I went inside to
EV>> pre-pay for some Gasoline and walked out to the car to put the Gas in
EV>> the tank. I noticed the Price on the Pump was the higher Credit price,
EV>> so I went back inside and told someone about the higher price and was
EV>> told Circle K has their own refinery now and they don't sell Shell
EV>> Gasoline anymore.
NB>> So they aren't honoring the Kroger 10 cent discount...
EV> I don't know about that because when I was at that Station my Kroger
EV> Plus Card didn't have enough points to get a discount.
Ah... so you didn't check that part out while you were there, since
things had changed... that would have been my next question to them... :)
EV> I was just suprised to learn about their EZ-Pay program was for people
EV> who pre-paid for Gas through buying a card way before needing to put
EV> Gas in their car.
So it works by having you essentially load a card with money so that you
can just swipe it at the pump when you get gas....?
EV>> To get the lower price I have to use a Circle K EZ-Pay Card and then
EV>> asked Me if I wanted to buy one.
EV>> I said No, and asked for the money back because I didn't want to pay
EV>> the same price that people who buy their Gas with a Credit Card is
EV>> charged.
NB>> And they are implementing their own "discount" schedule...
EV> If SIX CENTS less is a "Discount Schedule".
Not much of a discount, to be sure... :)
EV>> I remember years ago being told by someone at a store that the Charge
EV>> Card Companies give the store Six Cents less than the price on the
EV>> receipt when they turned the receipts in to the Company(s).
NB>> The card companies do charge the merchants for the privilege of
NB>> letting their customers use a card to charge the purchase.... that
NB>> is still the case.... ;)
EV> Thanks for letting my thoughts are the way Credit Cards work.
I don't know for sure if the six cent difference still applies... it
might be a percentage of the bill....
EV>> That Station used to be a Shell Gas Staton and still has the same
EV>> color markings as the Shell Stations use, Mostly Yellow and a Red
EV>> Stripe.
EV>> In My area some of the Marathon Gas Stations have a Circle K Sign,
EV>> those Stations are colored Blue though.
NB>> We have a few Marathon Gas stations here, but no Circle K, that I know
NB>> of.... ;)
EV> When I started driving in 1965 I bought gas at a Pan-Am Station.
EV> Later they became AMOCO, later the name changed to Standard.
EV> I don't know if Standard is around anymore.
Amoco was American Oil Company, Standard was Standard Oil Company, later
Esso, then later Exxon.... But there are Esso stations still in Canada...
