The best things a child gets out of it are closeness with a parent and
language developement...vocal skills as well as reading.

Each child is different, learning at different rates. That's the main reason
leading me to the homeschool decision. Both my older girls read at above
grade level, but my oldest daughter can't grasp math as readily as many
others her age. So I made the discision to teach her myself, at her pace.
Personally, I think that if your daughter is almost second grade age (7) and
reading at nearly second grade level, you should just relax and keep doing
what you're doing. Don't rush her...she'll be fine :)
