Actually it's Amtrak that doesn't want the competition. Years ago I noted that if the big cities were smart they'd consolidate their bus and train terminals at the local airport, making said airport a transportation hub. And the question arises, why do cities build airport terminals with public funds but require railroads and bus companies to build their own terminals with their own money (and, of course, pay taxes on those terminals to the city)? --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
