AA>PM> If you have an external unit, try setting S194=10 or
AA>PM> S194=138 (second turns on the "screen saver"). The %Q
AA>PM> and %L values will be displayed.
AA>I think that the folks at Supra have too much time on their hands.
AA> I suppose this extra ditty means that there is spare room in the
AA>ROM for more code.
In fact that "ditty" take up very little space. :-)
AA>PM> If the %L is in the 18 to 30 range and the %Q is in the
AA>PM> 30 to 55 range, the modem is making the best connection
AA>PM> for it sees as the conditions. If you want to make the modem
AA>PM> more aggressive, you could try S191=125.
AA>I played with values as low as S191=15, and I *still get 31200 max to
AA>USRs that are known to support 33600. I am using release 144-12.
Use the 1.440-18 release...chances are your connection
is using the 3200 symbol rate (max. carrier supported is
31200) rather than the 3429 which some USR code builds don't
support when talking to Rockwell chipset modems. We found
a way around this in the 1.440-18 code which should work
until USR decides to correct the code builds with the problem.
