In effect that's what I thought I was doing when I put Textpad into the
C:/batch directory, which is in my path.

Which according to their documentation, is superflous, as Edit is the default
editor. ;-)

 Well, as you'll have seen Stephen Haffly pointed me in the right direction.
Keep the length of folder names <8 chars.
