| subject: | Telecom lines/modem setup |
Meng-Shi Lim. All. Telecom lines/modem setup. You know the drill. [Much info cut] ML> I suspect that the STD BBS modem is a USR Courier. Could the Courier ML> be so good that it can handle poor STD line so much better than what ML> a high-end Netcomm can't even do at a local exchange? I'm told that if you and your target system live within 3 km of the exchange, you can get some really rotten connections. I get lame connections when I call my ISP in Albany from Albany (within 4 km, 14400 to 21600 usually) but excellent connections from home (50 km, always 28800). Maybe your ISP has their modem's fault detection/correction set differently to the BBS. * AmyBW v2.11 * ...
