When Oracle acquired Sun, the open source groups that Sun sponsored got a
bit... skittish when Oracle discontinued OpenSolaris. Oracle owned the rights
to the OpenOffice name, to the LO folks forked the code.
I'll bet on LO, as you noted, most of the OO team forked with it. :)
