I had the same problem. Open the GEOS.INI file with a
text editor and add the following line. One for each
hard drive letter you plan on using:
  drive c = 65535
 JB> Major problem w/ Ensemble 2.01 -- it won't run. It ran until last
 JB> Saturday, when I upgraded that computer from Stacker 4.0 to Stacker
 JB> 4.1. I already had Stacker 4.1 on my Windows notebook.
Tips for solving problems accessing floppy and hard disks and drives
Tell GEOS what drives you have
Most problems reading, writing, copying or formatting floppy or hard
drives can be solved by telling GEOS exactly what type of drives you
are using. To notify GEOS of what type of disks and drives you have
you must edit the GEOS.INI file. Simply add the appropriate lines to
the [system] section of the file. For example:
  [system]
  drive a = 360  (Tells GEOS you have a 5.25" Low Density A: drive)
  drive b = 720  (Tells GEOS you have a 3.5" Low Density B: drive)
  drive c = 65535  (Tells GEOS you have a C: Hard drive)
Using the basic format:
  drive  =
you can specify a number of possible drive combinations:
0  =  Ignore the drive
360  =  360K (Double/Low Density) 5.25"
720  =  720K (Double/Low Density) 3.5"
1200  =  1.2M (High Density) 5.25"
1440  =  1.44M (High Density) 3.5"
2880  =  2.88M (High Density) 3.5"
65535 = Hard drive (compressed or uncompressed)
Wait Post Support
GEOS provides two different methods of accessing drives: Wait Post
ON, and Wait Post OFF. A complete description of what the two methods
are isn't important. What is important is that some computers require
Wait Post ON, and others need Wait Post OFF.
If you're having problems accessing your drives, first follow the
procedure above. If that doesn't help your drive access problems, try
changing the Wait Post setting. To do this, launch Preferences and
click on the GEOS button. Wait Post Support section in the right of
the dialog box. Click on the ON button to turn on Wait Post Support.
Click on OK, then Yes. GEOS will shut down and restart itself with
Wait Post Support turned on.
If you still have problems, go back into Preferences, click on GEOS,
and turn Wait Post Support off. Sometimes just the process of turning
Wait Post Support ON, then OFF again will solve drive access
problems.
 JB> After upgrading Stacker, every time I started Ensemble, it would load
 JB> and look OK. As soon as I touched the mouse or keyboard, that ugly
 JB> error window appeared with this message: "Please insert disk MS-DOS_5
 JB> into drive C. Press Enter to continue." MS-DOS_5 is the volume name
 JB> of the hard drive. Everything else works fine. Norton Utilities
 JB> reports everything is fine, except the stuff it normally reports is bad
 JB> when operating w/Stacker. Virus check software doesn't show anything.
 JB> The volume name of my hard drive is still MS-DOS_5. SETVER is
 JB> installed properly. I used CHKDSK, Check, Scandisk, and all is well,
 JB> except for Ensemble. I checked the GEOS.INI file, even deleted it and
 JB> installed the backup. Same problem!
 JB> I finally gave up and reinstalled Ensemble 2.0. Same error message.
 JB> The only difference is the error message appears in the top left corner
 JB> of the screen instead of in an error window, about 5 seconds into
 JB> Ensemble loading, instead of later. I installed and ran the V2.01
 JB> patch. The text file reported everything upgraded successfully. The
 JB> only problem is, it still won't run! Same problem, same error message.
 JB> The only thing I can figure is that 2.0 and 2.01 are incompatible with
 JB> Stacker 4.1. No, I'm not going to reformat the hard drive, install
 JB> DOS, Stacker 4.0 and everything else on the hard drive. I don't have
 JB> time to play silly games with fragile software. Any ideas how to fix
 JB> this?
