Wouldn't do any harm, John - nice to see you posting here again. However, has
she ever had walnuts that have been peeled? When we make quite a number of
dishes with them, we peel them, otherwise they can be very bitter. Two dishes
that spring to mind are a Salade Correzienne, which is a typical French tepid
salad with all sorts of goodies in, and a sauce called Tarator which is
basically a pungent garlic/walnut sauce, very popular throughout the Caucasus
and balkans.
