Hi Dottie!
-=> Quoting Dottie Theriault to Wendy Buchanan <=-
DT> Hi Wendy! Please excuse my butting in here but......
DT> I have been crocheting a christening gown for my new grandbaby due in
DT> June. We already know SHE is a girl so no problem making a gown
Those men just don't understand christening gowns, hehehe!
I don't blame them. But little baby boys used to be dressed
in dresses anyhow, made it easier to change diapers I guess.
And lace bonnets galore, only of course they had blue ribbons
on them!
DT> a gown, since I'm not a terrific seamstress. I do make play clothes
DT> for my grandchildren, but that is about the extent of my sewing
DT> besides making some quilts, tree skirts, victorian crazy quilt
DT> christmas stockings and table runners.
So you're having fun, anyhow--and play clothes they can always
use, I'm sure, so that's valuable sewing you're doing there!
A christening gown they wear once. Play clothes they will keep
wearing, because we know how they love to play!
DT> The pattern that I am using for my gown is from Leisure Arts Leaflet
DT> 2833 "Christening Collection Book 2". The pattern is on the front
DT> cover called "Spider Edge Set". I have about half of the skirt done
DT> now and one sleeve. I have never attempted a project like this before,
You *are* brave, Dottie! I've seen that leaflet and that pattern
is gorgeous. But it looks difficult to me. I'm sure your family
will treasure it a long time. I don't crochet well with thread,
so it looks doubly difficult to me. Because of the way I hold my
thread and hook, I seem to tear the thread up and it gets caught
on the hook all the time, which frustrates me too much. I just get
mad and put the things away. No patience here, really!
DT> Welcome back Wendy.... I gather you've been away a while. I am
DT> fairly new on this echo, but have been on Sew&Quilt for about 2 years
DT> now. Thanks for letting me (Ha-ha, like you had a choice ;).....butt
DT> in here. Hope to chat with you in the future.
I was on Sew_&_Quilt and just picked it back up today. I'm still
working on my "Forever Quilt," a teddy bear 9-patch. Someday...
I am slow but I will get it done because I want it so badly!
Great to hear from you!
LadyBear Hugs,
Wendy
