Ok, I've updated my compiler and the error has gone. This seems to be a bug
in gcc3 prior to v3.2. fidoconf compiles cleanly with "-O3" and
gcc 3.2.1 here. Should we document this problem somewhere, or are gcc 3.0
and 3.1 dying out anyway?
