On 06-10-08, BOB ACKLEY said to BOB KLAHN:
BA>Replying to a message of Bob Klahn to All:
SH>>> Tell us about working on A10s, Junior.
TR>> I want to see him tell about the Sidewinder Missiles he
TR>> worked on.
TR>> Does anyone notice that neither Klahn, Wilson, nor Ackley
TR>> called him on it?
BK> Why would we? After all, you didn't call Hardegree on his
BK> retirement from the army with 12 yrs documented service.
BA>I've never seen Sauer claim to have worked on Sidewinder missiles.
This from a rather recent message packet:
"The most advanced weapon I did work on was the then-current version of the
Sidewinder." .........Sauer
BA>And a week or so in tech school is just about enough time to learn where
BA>the chow hall, latrine and orderly room are, it is not enough time to
BA>develop any significant knowledge of the subjects being taught.
"(I worked on Warthogs in the USAF." ........Sauer
BA>IIRC Sauer's claim was that he'd 'worked on' A-10s, not that he was a
BA>fully qualified A-10 mechanic or a specialist on any of the systems used
BA>in the A-10. Wiping the dust off the canopy, once, fulfills that claim,
BA>even if it's done on a static display.
"I'd like to see you load an A-10's ammunition store for the front gun,
MANUALLY, like we had to do once." .......Sauer
BA>One could consider the claim misleading, and perhaps it is, whether
BA>intentional or not, but it is not necessarily *false*.
You have to have a tech school for what Sauer claimed he was in (Weapons
Systems Mechanic) `at' Lackland. The one he would have had to attend was at
Lowry. Isn't that in Colorado? Sauer never made it to tech school.
"Never been to Wisconsin. Ever live anywhere else?" .....Wilson
"Briefly in Texas. You can have it." .......Sauer
BA> The claim or
BA>inference that he *never* worked on A-10s is at least questionable and is,
BA>IMO, false; it takes only one contrary example to disprove blanket
BA>statements ('always,' 'never,' etc.).
You then have to know just how many A-10 Warthogs there were `at' Lackland in
1978, and how Sauer would have come into contact with it, or even `if' he
did.
A person who wipes the windshield of a car cannot then claim to have been an
auto mechanic on the strength of that.
If they did so......they would be lying.
