Um, not in any obvious way...the OP doesn't specify a solution, only
that he was using gparted at the time of the update and thinks that
caused the error. I _wasn't_ using gparted at the time of the update
(who would do something like that?).

Perhaps I should add that I'm using a Pi3B+ booting from a USB
mechanical hard disk. Immediately after setup is ran apt-get update
without any complaints and has rebooted successfully at least twice.
It seems to be running fine. The only hints of complaint in dmesg are:

It seems quite possible the apt-get error is the result of a bug in RaspiOS.
