Hello All,
Last weekend I upgraded 9 DOS PC's to Win95 OSR2.1 and IntranetWare Client
2.2.
Everything looked OK, but monday morning people started to use their new
machines, and especially the most used software on our network: a (DOS based)
hotel property management system written in Clipper 5.2e.
And after a few hours things didn't look that OK anymore: corrupt database
indexes, financial bookings that got overwritten with other bookings, etc.,
etc.
All errors could be tracked down to the Win95 machines, none of the remaining
DOS/Win3.11 machines (about 20 or so) could be blamed.
First I tried to remedy it by switching all client based caches off (cache
writes off, cache level 0, true commit on), but that didn't help at all. Both
indexes and databases kept getting corrupt.
I then shut down the NetWare 3.11 server, replaced the 3.11 server.exe file
with a 3.12 one (all loaded NLM's were already on at least 3.12 level, so
hat
was no problem), and since then I haven't seen or heard a problem at all.
Is this a known problem? Anyone ever experienced a similar problem with Win95
clients under NW 3.11?
Regards,
Erik
