Hi... I have a Windows 2000 Server box sitting in a closet that does the job of running my website, BBS and Echomail software. The box only has a network cable and power plugged in - no keyboard, monitor or mouse - so when I need to get in there I just remotely-connect to it. Upon installing five recent updates (one to direct, three to the OS and the malicious software update), I had to reboot. Thats fine, and everything works properly - except now the box will "hang" for around 5 minutes before resuming all tasks and then the dreaded "At least one service failed to start" message comes up. Upon examining the event viewer it tells me that the Automatic Updates service hung on starting - how does one start to diagnose that problem? I *cannot* use the box in safe mode as that would disable a critical service necessary for me to remotely-connect to it. *Nick* --- D'Bridge 2.95* Origin: nickandre.com (1:229/426) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 300 34/999 53/558 90/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 SEEN-BY: 222/2 226/0 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 633/104 260 262 267 285 690/682 734 712/848 SEEN-BY: 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 303 2905/0 @PATH: 229/426 2000 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
