Replying to a message of Ross Cassell to Bob Klahn: BK>> And my resentment of those who did not serve goes back over 30 BK>> years. I resented the fact that they were able to move ahead in BK>> their civilian occupation when we who served did not. However, BK>> that has little effect now. Now it's just the Chicken Hawks I BK>> resent. Who, BTW, I resented then. With good reason. If you are BK>> so brave and eager for war you should at least put on the BK>> uniform. RC> Using my lifetime as a rain gauge, William Jefferson Clinton is the RC> only US President whom did not don the uniform of our military. Good thing you restricted the time period to fifty years or so. I don't think that John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, or James Madison served in the US military. Not sure about Wilson, Harding or Coolidge. I don't think Roosevelt minor served *in* the military, although IIRC he was Secretary of the Navy around WW I. And note that the current president doffed his uniform a bit early. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 236/150 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
