subject: Why do you run what you run?

Hello, Kurt.

I'm running Maximus/2 v3.01 under OS/2 Warp 4.52. The hardware itself is
on an older mid-2000s vintage Dell Dimension. For mail handling, I use
Squish and Internet Rex/2.

I like Maximus because of its textfile-based configuration and near
infinite modification capability because of MECCA, its built-in scripting
language, and MEX, a fully Turing-compatible programming language built
into Maximus. I also like that there's a plethora of third-party utilities
for it and that it's open source.

I admit the board is not as capable as some systems running on newer
equipment, but hey, for the low amount of callers I get, I can't beat the
reliability. The system just simply -runs- and requires very little upkeep
from me. I've been running OS/2 since 1998 except for a few short
flirtations with Linux and Windows and I still like OS/2 even with it
getting long in the tooth.

I figure when this system dies that'll be a sign for me to fold up the BBS,
but until then, I'm still here.

Later,
Sean
