subject: ATM two mirrors, one kit

Someone just jogged my memory with the mention of a tile tool. Back to the WB
two blank kits.

Tile hardness matters. If you use soft tiles, you will go through tile and grit
faster. Soft tiles are a good thing at finer grits. Your ROC doesn't change
much.

That is why many of us advocate two tools.

On smaller mirrors, I like to glue a 1 piece tile to the base and do the hogging
with it.

When you are at ROC and some what spherical, Set that tool aside for use as the
base of your pitch lap later.

Now, mold a new base and use the little 1 inch tiles on net you find in most
large hardware outlets. They are too soft for hogging but won't change your ROC
much at this stage

If you go back to fine grinding, you don't have to destroy the pitch lap.
Also, if you do sieze with the 'multi tile tool' it is easier to recover.
This
a bigger problem with fine grits because the surfaces are in better contact.
