On 06-14-08, ROSS CASSELL said to BOB KLAHN: RC>Hello Bob! RC>14 Jun 08 16:53, you wrote to Stan Hardegree: SH>> What do you know or care about taxes? You are on welfare. Four years in the United States Army (Korea era) and RC>the remainder until 1987 for the National Security Agency with an ungodly RC>high security clearance, having briefed military base commanders and RC>Aircraft Carrier Commanders on encrytion codes, he currently is subsisting RC>on his pension. RC>Working for the public sector does not equate to failure, leeching off of RC>the funders of the public sector is more like it. My stepfather was in the Navy for 22 years. He was aboard the USS Tangier anchored about fifty feet away from the USS Utah in Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7th, 1941, when the Jap planes arrived and started their bombing runs. My stepfather's AA gun crew shot down two of the three Jap planes the Tangier destroyed. The Utah was hit and ultimately went bottoms-up. From there he took part in the battle of Coral Sea, the battle of Midway, several amphibious assaults ferrying Marines ashore under heavy Jap fire during various taking of islands. He had several medals, including two Purple Hearts. When he retired from the Navy, he was a First Class, got his hard-earned retainer check from the Navy each month, and went to work at the California First Bank until he retired. --- *Durango b301 #PE** Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 236/150 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
