        Ben, I have BW pointing to Qedit as my editor.

        I have a short cut on the desktop and when I want BW I just
        click on it.

        More often than not, when I want to print from BW it is the
        first print task after turnon so I doubt there is anything
        hanging around inside the printer?

        The only other DOS program that comes to mind is WP 5.1. It has
        been sometime since I printed anything from that program tho
