Well, since it offers discounts on admission and on travel services using
Disney Travel... and especially since it is free, it is worth getting.
The MKC membership card that comes from employers is all you need, I would
suggest that unless your employer does not offer the free card AND YOU HAVE A
LARGE FAMILY....DO NOT GET the Gold MKC membership that is offered in the
Disney Channel Magazine or at the Disney Stores.
I do not recall the cost of the Gold Card MKC membership... but I seem to
remember that it is around $50. If you are getting a 10% discount on
admissions to the Disney parks... that means that you would have to spend
500
in admission costs to have the card pay for itself. If you are using the
Disney Travel services... then the card can pay for itself in a hurry.
But like I said, check with your employer and see if they offer the free MKC
membership. If not, have your "benefits officer" or "personnel manager"
rite
to either Disneyland or WDW on company letterhead asking to become part of
he
MKC. It will not cost your employer anything other than the time to write the
letter and the postage stamp.
You do not need to be living in the "shadow" of Disney in California or
Florida... this is open to any employer. Just have your employer call "guest
relations" at any of the parks for the exact address and further information.
